The west coast of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, has been struck by a heartbreaking tragedy. Near Los Gigantes, a powerful wave has swept away four individuals, resulting in their deaths. Additionally, another person remains missing. Initially, only three fatalities were reported.

Details of the Incident

The catastrophic event occurred shortly after 4 PM at one of the popular natural pools in Los Gigantes, located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. At that moment, numerous visitors were both on the rocks and in the water when an enormous wave crashed upon them, pulling many into the depths. Reports indicate that several individuals were caught in the surge, with some being foreign tourists.

Rescue Efforts and Casualties

A search and rescue helicopter managed to bring one person to safety, while another was retrieved lifeless from the water. As per official updates, two men and one woman initially lost their lives – the deceased man was 35 years old, while the woman was 55. Subsequently, another woman was stabilized and flown to a hospital, but later succumbed to her injuries.
