A tragic incident has cast a shadow over the scenic west coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife. Off the coast near Los Gigantes, a powerful wave swept four individuals into the ocean, leading to their deaths, while one person remains missing. Initially, authorities confirmed three fatalities.
The harrowing event occurred in the late afternoon at one of the popular natural pools in Los Gigantes, situated in Santiago del Teide. As numerous visitors enjoyed the picturesque setting, both on the rocks and in the water, an unexpected surge struck, taking many by surprise and dragging them into the depths.
Emergency services reported that multiple individuals were caught in the forceful waters. According to reports, among those affected were also tourists from abroad. A rescue helicopter managed to retrieve one person alive, but unfortunately, another was brought back dead.
As per official updates, the deceased initially included two men and one woman, ages 35 and 55, respectively. Tragically, a fourth victim, another woman, was later discovered. Although she was revived and airlifted to a hospital, she succumbed to her injuries there. The current status of whether any Germans were among the victims remains unclear.
