Rosmarin posted Instagram reels to explain the mood onboard, stressing that those affected are real people with families and lives waiting at home. He said the hardest part is the uncertainty and appealed for kindness and understanding as passengers wait for clear guidance and safe disembarkation.

Official Response

The World Health Organization confirmed multiple people aboard have died of suspected hantavirus infections. Reports say three of six ill passengers have died and one is in intensive care in South Africa. Authorities allowed the vessel to dock at Praia so health teams could board and begin medical evacuations, while others remain onboard under quarantine.
