An Elegant Evening

The State Hall was decked with Sweden’s provincial flags and a menu that featured dill-cooked lobster, Swedish veal loin and rhubarb with lemon and elderberry mousse. King Carl, Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria all spoke, with Victoria praising her father’s humility and lifelong dedication to duty. The king, who took the throne in 1973 at age 27, is now in the 53rd year of his reign and is Sweden’s longest-serving sovereign.
