The threat came via Facebook on July 14, 2025, when Perez, then 34, wrote: "Hey Trump I'ma go to your Gulf course an be the next shooter lol I'm bored." The post included emojis and led to her arrest after prosecutors reviewed the message.
Perez previously faced charges after reportedly threatening to "shoot up" Barton Elementary, a school tied to where her children were to be moved; that case was dismissed after a judge found her "seriously mentally ill" and unable to stand trial. Separately, authorities also prosecuted Ryan Wesley Routh for a 2024 plot at the fence of Trump’s golf course; Routh was arrested by Secret Service, convicted of attempted assassination and related gun charges, and sentenced to life plus seven years.
